Wild Bird Cover Demonstrations
A very successful demonstration of a Wild Bird Cover crop was held on Dan O’Donoghue’s farm in Cordal in Co. Kerry on Friday. Over 60 farmers from all over North Cork and Kerry attended the two sessions. In spite of the difficulties with the weather earlier in the Summer, Dan established a very impressive cover crop of forage Radish, Phacelia, Linseed and Stubble turnips.
The team introduced the range of Non Productive Investments that would be available to farmers later this year. The application procedure was explained and the contrasts with Landscape Actions explained.
Reassuringly a straw poll of the farmers present showed that the vast majority have already had their lands scored.
