About This Action:

NPI Water Storage Tanks:

Provides water storage in fields where there is no piped supply and no reliable natural water source.

Why?

  • Supplies water troughs in areas without a piped or reliable surface water supply.
  • Helps you to increase your score and possibly your payments through improved grazing management.
  1. Supply at least 1 new mobile water storage tank at least 2,500 litres capacity.

Additional Guidance

Keep the tanks at least partially full. The weight of the water will stabilise them and stop them from being blown over in the wind. 

 

Good Locations:

  • Lands where a piped or surface water supply is not available

 

Poor Locations:

  • Where a piped or surface water supply is available.
  • Scrub or Woodlands
  • Near an archaeological monument

Can I put a storage tank in the farmyard?

Yes, you can collect rainwater from roofs in farmyards for supplying water troughs on nearby CP fields or on improved agricultural grasslands where the Riparian Margins Action has been implemented.
