NPI Conservation of Cultural Heritage Sites on Arable Land

Some Common Questions

No, Fencing is not required on arable land provided animals are never present.

If the monument is not visible on the surface then it is not eligible for this NPI.

The main requirement is to remove scrub growing on the site, you can only use hand tools for this task. Work cannot be carried out during the bird nesting season. Seek advice from the CP team archaeologist if large trees are present. You must maintain a 10 m grass margin around the monument.
