I applied for a permanent electric fence, can I put in a barbed wire fence instead?

No, you have to install the type of fence that you applied for. If you have changed you mind you should withdraw the action and apply for your preferred option during the next NPI application window.

Do I have to use a certain type of wire or post?

Posts can be made of timber, PVC or metal. All fence posts and wire must be new

There is a small wall on the boundary, do I still need to put in three strands of wire?

No. The minimum requirement is for two strands of barbed wire. Three strands are recommended but two strands are acceptable where the fence is reinforcing an existing wall or other boundary.

Can I attach the wire to trees on the boundary?

No, Wire can only be attached to new fence posts. Posts can be made of timber, PVC or Metal.
