NPI Fencing (Permanent Electric)

Provides the necessary infrastructure for improved Habitat Management.

Why?

• Helps you to increase your score and possibly your payments through improved grazing management.
• Provides a power source to supply temporary electric fence used to sub divide larger fields allowing for improved grassland management

Erect New Permanent Electric Fencing.

• You must use new fence posts.
• You cannot reuse old wire or posts or attach wire directly to trees.
• Minimum length of new fencing is 10m.
• You cannot use this action to enclose previously open areas.
• You must keep the fence at least 1.5m back from water courses.

• To reinforce existing boundaries only.    
• Use new posts and wire. 
• Do not attach wire to trees. 
• Avoid installing in peatland or rough grazing sites during the bird breeding season.
• Avoid installing on migratory Geese and Swan Sites in Winter.

Good Locations:

• Field Boundaries that are not stock proof
• Large fields where temporary sub division may be useful

Poor Locations:

• Unenclosed land.
